Child is a cross-community children's charity which was established in January 1996. We provide week long residential holidays for children drawn from all sections of the community in Northern Ireland. We also provide volunteer training and volunteering opportunities for volunteers aged 17+.
Child Holidays

Our holidays are fun and action packed weeks giving children an opportunity to take part in a range of activities, meet new friends and have a break from their normal lives. In the last 10 years we have provided holidays for more than 1200 children!

A Registered Charity

Child is a registered charity, a registered member of the DHSS pre-employment constancy service and an affiliated member of Youth Action NI.
Who Runs Child?

The charity itself is managed by the Council members. Alongside this we have now have many volunteers, who assist the council in the running of the charity in activities such as fundraising and take part in the holidays. There are no full or part-time employees. Child is run entirely by volunteers. Our work is governed by our founding constitution - available for download below.

Our Aims
Child believes that it’s work will represent a major step forward in encouraging cross-community contacts; confidence-building between communities and the promotion of positive means of handling conflicts. This work is undertaken by volunteers drawn from all sections of the community and all religious persuasions who work within and beyond their local communities to effect better relations between all participants in Child’s programme of work.
Promoting Volunteering
Child is a volunteer intensive Organization that seeks to promote
personal development and self-confidence/esteem amongst volunteers
and provide positive opportunities for interaction between and
across the community divide in N. Ireland.
Cross-Community Focus
Child believes that our province-wide base, our strong commitment to providing quality services to children and young adults and the locally responsive nature of our organization will encourage the development of good community relations, highlight the interdependence of community ties and encourage the positive and peaceful recognition and promotion of similarity and diversity within and between both religious traditions.
Tackling Disadvantage
Child is particularly proud of its record of working with disadvantaged young people and providing life-enhancing services to these young people.
