About Child’s Holiday Bursary Scheme

To celebrate our 13^th anniversary Child is offering a Children’s Holiday Bursary Scheme.  In the second year of the scheme Child is offering 20 bursary places on our holiday - date and location to be advised.

Who Can Apply?

The bursary scheme is targeted at children currently in P4-P7 who would benefit from a subsidised holiday.  Each bursary place offers a needy child a fun packed residential holiday for a parental contribution of £50 (the actual cost of the holiday is £200 and Child makes up the shortfall through fundraising).

How to Apply for our Bursary Scheme

Download an application form from from this site.  Fill in the form and return it to us along with a cheque for £50. 

Since demand is likely to exceed supply, early application is strongly advised (we recommend that applications for bursary places should be with us before the end of April 2009).  Successful applicants will be notified by mid-May. 

About Child Holidays

Child provides holidays for children aged 7-15. We have provided holidays for over 1100 children to date.  Holidays are a great opportunity for the children to mix, learn from each other and enjoy a wide range of fun activities.   We ensure that the week provides a safe, secure and fun environment for them. The holidays take place in carefully selected residential centres.

Child Holiday Structure

Each holiday is run and organised by experienced and trained staff, lead by the holiday Director and Assistant Director.

The Support Staff consists of a team of volunteers, including a trained first-aider, who assist the Directors and the Group Leaders.

When the children arrive they are allocated into groups of approximately eight and with two Group Leaders, who ensure the children have all the care they need during their stay.

The children can take part in a host of activities including swimming, rock climbing, horse riding, crafts and canoeing to name but a few.

Our volunteers are full of energy and enthusiasm and give all they can to make the holiday as great as they possibly can.

Past Holidays

Since 1996 we have run 16 very successful holidays in Omagh, Castlewellan, Craigavon and Newcastle for children aged 8-15 yrs.  We have provided holidays for over 1100 children, all of whom had an action packed, fun week.

How do I apply?

If you have children under your care who you wish to be considered for a place on one of the holiday programmes you must apply by filling out the application form and returning it to us with a cheque for £50.

As bursary places are limited we strongly strongly recommend that you apply for a bursary place no later than the end of April 2009.

Bursary Scheme - Holiday Cost

The fee for the Bursary Scheme is £50 per child.  This covers travel, meals, accommodation and activities.

 

The actual cost of the holiday is greater. However Child fundraises to meet most of the cost.
