Child Training Course 2009
Some of the Training Team in Action!
How Do I Join Child?
Child is always looking for new volunteers. We value our volunteers and provide several types of training to facilitate their development. Our courses include: Residential Training Courses for New Entrants; Senior Worker Courses for experienced staff and Training for Trainers Courses. We also offer opportunities for our volunteers to attend relevant training in related areas e.g. first aid.
We Train You To Do The Job Well
To join Child as a holiday volunteer you must attend and pass a Residential Training Course that lasts two weekends. Our volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds but have one thing in common - the desire to make a difference in children's lives.
Child organises training course and follow-up activities for all new and existing volunteers. The courses are run by experienced volunteers. Specialist courses e.g. First Aid are provided by external agencies.
The
course focuses on several areas: · Personal Development · Working
with others · Problem solving · Learning games, songs and skills ·
Socialising and having fun!
The course is free to all new volunteers - all meals, transport, materials and training costs are provided free of charge. Given the high level of subsidy Child expects successful volunteers to work on a minimum of two residential holidays.

A course for existing volunteers
This course is for existing volunteers to progress further within the charity. Senior workers are encouraged to get involved in the training group and to take part in all senior worker courses. Here we see our lovely Volunteers who successfully completed the Senior Workers course in 2006, most of whom went on to be an Assistant Director on one of the 2006 holidays.
Courses Planned for 2008/09 include
AD/Director's Course
Volunteer Training Course
Training for Trainer's Course
Details of courses for all 2008/09 will be advertised in staff mailings. Staff are also encouraged to undertake a recognised First Aid Qualification that Child will part-fund.
